Day 8 | Tuesday, May 28

Today was our "down day", but we ended up doing quite a few things anyway!

Michaela made her favorite french toast casserole with cream cheese for breakfast.

Isn't Scout adorable?

Emily took some pictures of Aunt Carole and Uncle Pooge's living room. So cute!

This is one of Michaela's favorite things in the whole house (besides the reading chair)! We don't have a picture of it yet, but every hour the clock plays a different song while the face actually splits in half and rotates to reveal a moving scene!

One of their pretty chairs with a pillow commemorating the Model T Centennial Tour.

Looking from the living room into the eating area and kitchen.
The sideboard in the living room holds a music box with a ballroom scene that rotates and a victrola.

A closer view of the victrola. The record in it right now is Bing Crosby's You Must Have Been a Beautiful Baby.

Looking from the kitchen out into the arbored doorway.

Michaela and Scout in her room (which is normally the den/office)

The family room has beautiful paintings depicting Aunt Carole and Uncle Pooge's travels in Europe. They were done by their Japanese exchange student. Isn't she talented?!

The kitchen.

After we spent the morning laying around and relaxing, Uncle Pooge offered to take us for a drive in his 1928 Model A Ford, complete with a rumble seat. Of course we jumped at the chance! It was a blast!

While out driving lots of people would wave at us!

Getting a chance to sit in the driver's seat.

The hood ornament is called "the flying lady".

We stopped at the pier to get out and look at the water and boats.

Emily was really good at capturing our reflection in store windows as we drove by.

After the pier, Uncle Pooge took us along a road that hugged the side of a mountain and followed along the water's edge.

After coming home for a bit, we went for another drive with Uncle Pooge to Mount Diablo, but we didn't go in a classic car :) The summit has an elevation of 3,849 feet and offers spectacular views!

Michaela has Uncle Pooge right in the palm of her hand!

Vacation seems to be too much hard work for Michaela...

For dinner Aunt Carole made us a delicious meal of  meatloaf, mashed potatoes, bread, and spaghetti squash.

Aunt Carole was impressed that Michaela tried the squash, and actually had a whole helping.

Scout likes the rumble seat too!

Since we ate our vegetables, Aunt Carole took us to Cold Stone Creamery for dessert. A sweet ending to a great day!
