Day 15 | Tuesday, June 4

Today was definitely bittersweet because it marked the end of our California adventure. We both had an absolute blast staying with Aunt Carole and Uncle Pooge. We were able to see and learn so many new things; it's really expanded our horizons. Thank you Aunt Carole and Uncle Pooge so much for letting us come!!!

Saying goodbye at the airport.

Our plane to Chicago.

Isn't this sweet? Thank you guys back at home for letting us take off for 2 weeks! Our trip was so much fun, we really appreciate it! It's also lovely to come home again though!
Hopefully this isn't the end, but the beginning to more adventures for the two of us! Thanks for following along our trip from New York to Cali!

Day 14 | Monday, June 3

This was our last full day in California! Aunt Carole & Uncle Pooge have made this such a special trip it will be very hard leaving tomorrow!

But you don't think Aunt Carole would let us spend our last day at home do you? Of course not! Today we went to the Walt Disney Family Museum in Presidio. It was fabulous! The whole museum is devoted to Walt's life story and how he became the legend that he is today. The exhibits were loaded with information and had subtle "Disney" twists to make them creative. The museum actually isn't a "kid type" museum. It's probably best suited for 12 years and up.

Some of the awards Walt won in his lifetime.

Some of Walt's early drawings

In 1923 Walt moved to Hollywood because he wanted to become a director.

Some of Walt's early films were called "Alice Comedies" and portrayed a live action girl playing in a cartoon world. Here is a picture of Virginia Davis, one of the four Alices.

"No one person can take credit for the success of a motion picture. It's strictly a team effort." -Walt Disney

During World War II, Walt and his crew focused more on war related items than cartoons. They produced posters, short films, and pamphlets encouraging support for the troops, patriotism, and awareness.

"Don't be a job hopper. Our soldiers are sticking to their guns. Stick to your job!" (this is one of Michaela's favorites :)

"It CAN happen here! Remember Pearl Harbor."

"You can dream, create, design and build the most wonderful place in the world, but it requires people to make the dream a reality." -Walt Disney

Walt died on December 15, 1966, only 10 days after his 65th birthday. He left behind a legacy of creativity, inventiveness, kindness, and zest for life that forever changed films, and the world for that matter. By the end of the museum Michaela felt like crying too...

Pics of the Golden Gate from the ride back. Beautiful day today!

We went with Aunt Carole to her tap class and had a mini lesson ourselves. Emily also gave us a little show of Irish dancing!

For dinner we went to In N Out Burgers because Kellie told us we couldn't leave California without having gone!

And of course we had to wrap the day up with frozen yogurt!

We think we need to open one of these in New York... Just sayin' they're pretty good! (except for the Taro root flavor, take it from Michaela and just don't try it!)
