Day 13 | Sunday, June 2

Today we had brunch at the Powder Keg to celebrate Aunt Carole's "daughter's" birthday. Tomomi isn't actually Aunt Carole's daughter, but she lived with them for a long time as an exchange student from Japan. She now lives permanently in the U.S.

The whole gang.

Emily had "Going Apes", which is "French toast stuffed with hazelnut Nutella and fresh bananas, drizzled with chocolate"! Michaela told her that's more like dessert than breakfast!

Aunt Carole and her twin grand-nieces, Ella and Adrienne.

Ha! We finally got pictures of the clock opening up! So neat!

In the afternoon we had a unique opportunity to meet a blogger that Emily (and now Michaela :) follows. Kellie, from Nothing Less Than Bread, is so sweet! It was an honor to meet her in person! If you haven't read her blog you should totally go check it out!

We met up in the town of Brentwood, in front of the movie theater.

We pretty much wandered the town aimlessly, until we started to get really hot and thirsty (it was 98 out). Kellie remembered seeing a Starbucks so we spent quite awhile walking around trying to find it. We were pretty thankful to get into the air conditioning by the time we found it!

Our yummy lemonades! Except, the only name spelled correctly is Emily's...

The three of us.

Later, after we had come home and had dinner, Uncle Pooge gave us a tour of his neighbor's front yard! His neighbor collects, fixes up, and displays all sorts of things from hit and miss engines, tractors, visual gas pumps, statues and more!

An old John Deere cub.

A corn sheller and cracker powered by a hit and miss engine.

An original Railway Express Agency wagon.

Everything is in California, including Jane Austen!

For dessert Aunt Carole took us to another frozen yogurt place!

Yum!

When we came home Uncle Pooge showed us his hat collection, and then let us try them on!
